About ScottScott Pruitt has always been a man of values, and a man of action. As a child playing baseball, Scott put to use the values of hard work and perseverance, and was able to take a game and turn it into a college education at the University of Kentucky. And it did not stop there.

After working his way through law school at the University of Tulsa, Scott ventured into private practice. Instead of taking the traditional route, however, Scott specialized in Constitutional Law. The first case Scott Pruitt ever took was to defend the religious liberty of Oklahomans working for the state government. Scott helped a state employee who had been fired for holding a Bible study in her home and took on the Attorney General and won. Because of his hard work and knowledge of Constitutional law, Scott’s client returned to her job and the thousands of men and women who work for the state government are now more able to freely express and develop their personal faith.

In 1998, frustrated at the problems he saw in state government, Scott Pruitt decided to take on the political establishment. While others scoffed at the idea of the young family man taking on an entrenched incumbent State Senator, Scott Pruitt knew that his conservative values and abiding faith were in-line with his friends, neighbors and others in the Broken Arrow community. Scott surprised many by winning the seat, but very quickly proved his mettle and was tapped by then Governor Frank Keating to be his point person on important workers’ compensation legislation.

During Pruitt's early years in the State Senate, Scott led the charge and was able to pass the Religious Freedoms Act. Through Scott’s leadership, Oklahoma became among the first group of states to pass this type of act that makes it more difficult for a government to burden an individual's practicing of his or her faith, even in the public square.

Pruitt also put his values to work in promoting pro-life legislation, which has always been a central focus for him. As a State Senator, Pruitt introduced and passed pro-life legislation making a physician who performed an abortion without consent to be liable for any physical or emotional harm to the mother. But the battle was not over when the legislation was signed into law, so Pruitt continued on with the battle and helped successfully defend it when it was challenged on constitutional grounds.About Scott

Pruitt also gained the respect of his colleagues and served as Assistant Republican Floor Leader for four years. He was the leading spokesperson for workers’ compensation reform, championed lawsuit reform, greater accountability for government spending and traditional, faith-based values, including allowing faith-based organizations to partner with the state in helping prisoners successfully re-integrate into society after their sentences were fulfilled.

In addition to his political activities, Scott has always been an entrepreneur. From 2002-2010, Pruitt acted as co-owner and managing general partner of the Oklahoma City Redhawks triple-A baseball team in Oklahoma City. In that capacity, he led an aggressive marketing campaign that was the envy of minor league baseball. The team regularly rated among the league’s leaders in attendance and merchandise sales.

Anyone who knows Scott knows that his faith and family come first. Scott and Marlyn, his wife of twenty years, are raising two children, McKenna and Cade in Broken Arrow. The Pruitt’s are members of First Baptist, Broken Arrow, where Pruitt serves as Deacon.
